ORIGINAL ValueJet Page

Tuesday, September 30, 1997 On Tuesday, September 30, 1997, the troubled airline ValuJet, which had recently changed its name to AirTran, found its website altered to draw attention to the very things ValuJet was trying to put behind them. References are made to the crash of 1996 which killed 110 people. ValuJet was shut down as a direct result of the accident and the negligence that led up to it but had recently restarted its operations and instituted the name change after merging with AirTran on September 24, only six days before their site was hacked. This is a web hack with a very definite message and customers saw it for at least a few hours before it was discovered and shut down.
